# Sector Overview
## The ecoinvent database covers a wide range of industrial sectors.
Nov 5th, 2025
The ecoinvent database is a global library of human activities, representing thousands of processes that supply goods and services across all industrial sectors. These activities consume both natural resources from the environment, as well as products from other human activities. At the same time, they release emissions to water, soil, and air.
Specifically, the ecoinvent database contains more than 26,000 reliable life cycle inventory datasets, covering a range of industrial sectors. These include agriculture and animal husbandry, building and construction, chemicals and plastics, energy, forestry and wood, metals, textiles, transport, tourist accommodation, waste treatment and recycling, and water supply, among others.
