# How to Login and Access the ecoinvent Database
## Discover the first steps to correctly set up your access to the ecoinvent database.

### **How Can I Access the ecoinvent Database?**
With a license, the ecoinvent database can be accessed on our platform, [ecoQuery](https://db.ecoinvent.org/), or through leading software tools.

### **How to Purchase an ecoinvent License**
The first step to purchasing an ecoinvent license is to understand our available offerings. Our [license guide](https://ecoinvent.org/licenses/#license-calculator) can help you determine the best license for your purpose and situation.

### **Logging in for the First Time**
After purchasing an ecoinvent license and logging in to the ecoinvent database for the first time, you will be asked to update your profile.
Make sure that you choose a safe password by adding capital letters, numbers, or special characters to improve the security of your account.
If you received your login credentials from one of our software partners, you were likely given a default username by your LCA software provider (e.g., PRé, ifu, GreenDelta). Please personalize your username.
See below examples of what a default username may look like depending on where you purchased your ecoinvent license:

If you purchased your ecoinvent license directly at ecoinvent and you don't know your username anymore, write to [sales@ecoinvent.org](mailto:sales@ecoinvent.org) indicating your name and organization.
Once you have updated your profile and accepted the [EULA](https://ecoinvent.org/gdpr-eula/) (End User License Agreement) you will be able to start working with ecoinvent.
