We Calculated the Carbon Footprint for one of our Products Using the ecoinvent Database. Are we Allowed to use This Carbon Footprint e.g. for Advertising?
The carbon footprint you calculated is referred to as ‘Calculated Data’ in the EULA. It is allowed to share Calculated Data with third parties (=non-licence holders) statically (for example in a PDF report/word document). It is not allowed to share the results of calculations with third parties in an automated way (for example through a tool or an application).
Could you Please Define and Provide some Examples of "Tools" as They are Used Under "Restrictions" in the EULA?
A “tool” could be any software tool, Software as a Service (SaaS) platform or web-based tool. For example, an Excel-based carbon footprint calculator for internal use inside a company, a web-tool for comparing the emission factors of different products available to clients, an e-Shop where customers can build their own product, etc.
Who Needs to Sign the ecoinvent EULA?

- For institutions/entities: the signing authority of such entity applies, i.e., the responsible person for the licence (e.g., a professor.) signs the EULA and is responsible for the use of other eligible users of the licence according to the agreed user base within the institution/entity.
