# Environmental Footprinting and Offsetting
Sept 29th, 2023
Calculators of carbon footprints rely on background databases to compute CO2 emissions associated with transport, energy consumptions and goods. However, the accuracy and credibility of these assessments rely on the availability of relevant, high-quality data.
ecoinvent compiles and reviews the best available environmental data out there.
